Growing older has faced me with many decisions. I am constantly being asked what I want to be when I’m older, which sect of myself I have want to isolate and make my whole person. The stress of this has bled into much of my work, and thus into this exhibit; loose ends I haven’t yet been able to string together.

I love exploring different avenues of my art. I paint portraits containing the shifting colors I see in the world; I create expressive still life drawings that push me out of my comfort zone; I create interactive works that pull my audience into new worlds; I experiment with destroying parts of my work to change the meaning; I add words that speak to me. 

I’m not sure which creative path I will take, but for now I am savoring my ability to explore my art in all its forms.

Through my works, I like to explore various concepts and emotions. I explore concepts of perception, reality, flooding thoughts, and exploration of invented spaces, places, and more. I intend to show intriguing representations of my thoughts and perceptions that are meant to make the viewer question reality. To do so I love to deform some parts of the artwork, use objects that seem to not make sense together, exaggerate or change colors, and capture things that don’t exist. I seek to raise interest in viewers and make them wonder. I hope to make people looking at my art think about what the story and meaning behind it might be. I aim to make my art open for interpretation so that anyone can make a connection and train of thought that would be the most interesting for them. To show those emotions I use colors, perspective, symbolism, and specific objects in hopes of triggering those emotions in the viewer.

My art explores the contrasting concepts of change and stability through narrative and illustrative forces. Pulling inspiration from the events that I go through, I celebrate achievements, love and moments of safety, while also offering hope or comfort in response to challenging experiences.  I work in a variety of mediums and styles but always focus on the emotional impact of my piece, whether that be exaggerations through stylized digital cartoons or highly detailed and realistic drawings that people can connect to their own lives.
