Friends,
Happy New Year! We hit the ground running to start 2023, and I want to share my excitement about this fantastic work with you.
I’m exceedingly proud of the tremendous artwork created by the artists featured in our 2021 projection art installation Certain Party or Parties Unknown (CPPU). When I received the auspicious honor of being appointed to the County’s Remembrance and Reconciliation Commission, I thought long and hard about what I might do from my perch to support the Commission’s important work. Little did I know our agency would embark on an incredible journey with outstanding artists to create an unforgettable and vital experience for Montgomery County residents.

In 2022 we extended the reach of this groundbreaking work through the Certain Party or Parties Unknown indoor gallery exhibition. I’m thrilled to share we are expanding the reach and access to CPPU one more time in 2023! Please join us at one of our remaining free community film screenings for the Certain Party or Parties Unknown documentary. This 20-minute film captures the process of creating the original CPPU installation from inception to opening night. Interviews with the artists reveal why they participated in the project, their personal connection to this important topic, how they developed their pieces from start to finish, and much more. A roundtable discussion will follow the film screenings to further community dialogue and understanding.
